Test on 2200mAh/11.1V HEADING_TITLE

Apri 21, 2007 by Bruce A Aunkt III Trafford, PA USA

You know how people say that when you buy a cheap lipo that you get what you pay for, well in this case they are WRONG!!! You get allot more. This lipo is amazing to say the least, the very first flight we put on this lipo we got 7 minutes and 50 second flight and ran it until the heli fell out of the sky draining it down to 10 volts. The temp was 87 deg F no puffing. So I put it on the charger and charged it up @ 1C with the balancer, an hour and 2100 Mah later (out of 2200) we had a JR factory pilot give it a whirl. Now keep in mind that we were indoors so couldn't get into the really hard 3D flying but still wasn't easy on it, we got a 9 minute flight! battery was 86 deg F and the end voltage was 9.4 volts people that witnessed this were flabbergasted and couldn't believe that we would fly it until the heli just didn't have enough power to fly anymore. I have video of both of these flights, my original eagle tree FDR died on me I ordered a new one on Tuesday night and it didn't show up yet, but as soon as my new one gets here I will have allot more detailed info. I am very amazed with this pack along with all the guys I fly with... Stay Tuned

The new Air Thunder lipo, in my opinion is the Best lipo I have ever purchased. I'm very demanding on my Lipo batteries and thus far the Air Thunder Lipo batteries are by far the best. I run A brushless motor direct drive pusher prop set-up and I've seen it "puff" more expensive lipo batteries. Using the same set-up, the Air Thunder battery delivered an A++ power. Never Over-heated, never puffed-up, kept it's shape, and ran strong the entire flight. It's the best Lipo battery pack I've seen so far. I can't wait to get my next one.

I have one of these batteries as well, and after some delays in my using it, (my fault) I finally had my first test flight today. I am VERY impressed, it had lots of power and I am not kidding. I flew around 8 minutes on a 430l motor with a 13 tooth pinion on my trex 450. The pack isn't meant to be flown until it reaches 0 volts every time, however it can safely go to about 2 volts per cell. I flew it until the helicopter didn't have enough lift to hover, I didn't have a camera person so it's not on film, I will make another showing its flight. The battery seemed to stay very consistent with the power right up to the end when it lost its power. After my flight, the battery had NO puffing and was not hot, rather it was just warm to the touch. I have yet to try this battery with much 3d, all i did was some hopping in the air of the bird, however it was very responsive. My initial impression is outstanding, simply because I can fly with great power right till I feel the battery start to go, then land, recharge and go with no damage to the pack. I am sold on this. -Mike

I use a DN charger and I have flown this pack into the range of not barely spinning the blades anymore (no lift at all) and the charger shows an L saying it's too low of voltage for the pack, but charges it right up no problems what so ever. My flight time rocks on it. I've finally started to do some 3d with the thing. I didn't notice any problems at all. I didnt do much that is extreme, but did some flips, rolls, inverted hovers and climbs, it took it all and performed perfectly, afterwards, wasn't even hot. This thing kicks tail.

I just got this lipo batt-a 3s 11.1V 2200mah.They claim that you can fly or use this battery until your heli or plane doesn’t fly any more, or until the power drops, and the battery will not be hurt. I was like na. If I do that, the battery will puff or I will kill it. But I went ahead and got one just to try and to compare it to other lipos out there in the market right now. I got some thunder power and evo batteries. This batt is some millimeters longer and wider comparing it to my thunder power. It is also a few grams heavier but not by much. Feel the same in the air. I mainly bought it to fly in my Trex 450se V2. I charged it and hook it up to my rexy. At first, I just hover 2 cycles to break it in. But then I read that there is no need to break in so I put some more flight on it until the heli did not flew any more (meaning the power dropped until I could not keep it in the air). And man all I can say is so far their claims are showing! After draining the battery to nearly 8 volts, I put back 2156 mAh. The battery stays fairly cool after 9 mins of hard 3D. Yes, 9 mins. The power is the same as thunder power and evo. This is an awesome pack for the price! So far, I got 15 cycles and the battery is just like when I first got it!

June 7th, 2007 55 cycle report by Bruce A Aunkst III Tradfford, PA USA

Well it took a little while but I got the cycles up there. This is one of the better batteries that I have used. Yes it is a little bigger and a little heavier but the performance more than makes up for its size. I have abused this battery pretty much every way possible. Discharged to O volts more than once, its drained to below 2 volts per cell on every cycle, it was even in a pretty bad crash and got dinged up a little, and it is still going strong. The capacity has not changed and there is 55 cycles on the battery, I am still putting in over 2100 mah on every charge. The battery has not puffed nor has it ever overheated. I have to admit that I was just as skeptical as everyone else, How can a little shop in Iowa have the latest and greatest in battery technology to date and at a reasonable price? but they do! So far I am a believer. Its nice being able to fly and concentrate on your heli and not worrying about how the battery is doing. I am still going to continue my abusive testing on this pack until it gives up the ghost. So stay tuned...

June 15th, 2007 70 cycle Eagle Tree Data by Mark Larson, Chandler, AZ

I received the Air Thunder 3S 2200 pack and was skeptical to say the least.
I have run Thunder Power, Flight power and even Tanics for years.. Always
carefully monitoring my flight time and charging.. After about a month of
HARD flying by just about everyone in my local group. I finally got the pack
back in my possession. These guys put around 70 flights on the pack and
REALLY pushed it hard.. it NEVER puffed or showed any sign of abuse. I just
logged a flight on it with my Eagle Tree and was pleased to see the power of
the pack seems just as good as the first day I got it. I logged close to 7
minutes on it and ran it until my speed controller hit the auto lipo cutoff
voltage point. Recharging the pack still put over 1800Mah's back into it.

Overall, I am VERY impressed with the quality of the pack, It performs
exactly as promoted and has lasted for more flights than most of my other
babied packs. I will defiantly be adding Air Thunder packs to my battery box
and flying them as much as I can.

Thanks Air Thunder! Mark Larson

June 17th, 2007 AirThunder Temperature Tests by Bruce A Aunkst III Tradfford, PA USA

I wanted to see how temperature effected the performance, so I did a 28 amp discharge on a single cell at 55,75 and 85 Deg F. Here are the results. Seems to me the hotter the better...

These are truly the best Lipo batteries I have ever come across. I was flying a Yak 54e with an AirThunder 4s pack last weekend when nearby pilots heard my timer went off. But still, I continued to fly until the low voltage cutoff kicked in. On the ground, my timer registered 12 minutes of flight. Then I remembered I did not reprogram my ESC prior to flight. Low voltage cutoff was still set on 9V, which I use for 3s pack. With all the excitement, I just plugged in and went flying again. The recharge put back 96% (2112) out the 2200mah. I've lost several of the other brands that are now landscape because I wanted to fly just a bit longer and slightly over-discharged them. With AirThunder Lipo batteries, you will have less to worry about and have more fun. AirThunder batteries will spoil you if you let it.
